LARGEST SKI AREA IN EUROPE
Morzine is located at the heart of the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area, with over 650kms of Alpine pistes, spread across 14 valleys and 2 countries.
Morzine is ideally located to access the high altitude, snow sure resort of Avoriaz, situated at 1800m, with peaks of up to 2466m.
The slopes of Morzine and Les Gets are great for beginners, with wide flat pistes and snow making machines helping to ensure consistent conditions.
Intermediates have the widest choice, with 45% of the runs graded red. You can easily spend a week exploring Chamossiere, Nyon, Ranfolly, Pleney, Les Gets and Mont Cherry.
Advanced skiers will love the unlimited off-piste from the Pointe de Nyon and Chamossiere to the north face of Mont Chery.
To explore the whole of the Portes du Soleil, access is from the Les Prodains or Super Morzine lifts. Avoriaz is one of the main centres in France for snowboarding, offering excellent parks and jumps for all abilities. Unique to Les Lindarets is ‘the Stash’, a natural terrain park. Advanced skiers enjoy unlimited off-piste opportunities in areas such as the Vallée de la Manche and the “Swiss Mur” – an infamous mogul field into Switzerland!

The Portes du Soleil offers some great mountain restaurants; here are some of Freedom Ski’s favourites:
Mont Chery
La Grande Ourse situated at 1725m at the top of the Grande Ourse chair lift overlooking Les Gets village with amazing views of Mont Blanc. Run by a very friendly Cornish family the restaurant has a great menu mixing traditional Savoyard mountain cuisine, interesting burger options, great British homemade pies and wonderful desserts
Morzine
Le Vaffieu chalet restaurant at the top of the Folliets chair lift, accessible to non-skiers on foot and very convenient for the beginners slopes. Serving fine gourmet French cuisine, a firm favourite
Les Gets
La Païka situated on the La Turche slopes with unspoilt views across the valley, try one of their infamous spit roasts
Les Lindarets
La Cremaillere is one of a handful of mountain restaurants situated in the quaint little hamlet below Les Lindarets bowl, the menu du jour never disappoints.
Avoriaz
La Reserve situated in le quartier de la falaise, appears in the 2017 Michelin Guide. Accessible to non-skiers on foot and very convenient for the beginners slopes
Champoussin, Switzerland
Chez Gaby this restaurant forms part of an auberge with a working farm producing their own cheeses. Situated on the piste with a sunny terrace and great mountain views, the rostis come highly recommended
Freedom Ski: guests will be introduced to our trusted ski instructors who will be available for 2 days per week. We encourage you to try something different. Go touring. Cross Country. Snow Shoeing. Off piste. Whatever you choose, your instructor will be there to guide you and invite you into his world. His knowledge of the mountains is legendary. Be enchanted by his stories and gatecrash his next adventure.
Night Skiing: have you ever skied under the stars? If not, then you must. On a Thursday evening, The Pleney is open from 8pm – 10pm.
Village Igloo: Experience a traditional Savoyard fondue on chef’s night off. We will chauffeur you to Avoriaz where you will be welcomed into ‘a cave of ice’ aka IGLOO which has been designed by locals, professional and passionate sculptors. An unforgettable moment, surrounded by snowcapped mountains & breathtaking panorama.
Live like a local: We encourage guests to live like the locals. Why not visit the cheese dairy? Every Wednesday and Thursday at 9am you can witness a live production of one of five cheeses.
Every afternoon from 3pm – 7pm there are also cheese making demonstrations.
On a Thursday morning head to our neighbour resort of Les Gets and shop at the local market. Sample meats, cheeses and the biggest nougats you have seen. Take advantage of the local cuisine. Made by the locals. Sold by the locals. Try a spot of French. Bonjour. Be encompassed and indulge in the alpine lifestyle ... Vin Chaud & Chocolate Chaud are common place at 11am.
Ski Jouring: The pleasure of the slide, the contact of the horses. So much fun for all the family. Ski Jouring is a discipline using an equestrian team. A horse or a pony harness pulls the skier through a rigid frame on a groomed track. Accessible to all, trot at a pleasurable pace or take a gallop for the thrill seekers, a truly unique experience and different way to see the alps.
Parapenting: Fly high in the sky and experience the stunning scenery of Morzine from above. Embrace the moment. The tranquility. Every experience is different from the next. No day is the same in the alps. Fly high and feel free.
